Dog Adoptions & Dog Rescue In Florida

The Humane Society of Inverness, Inc. incorporated in September, 2004, and is not affiliated with any other humane society. The Humane Society of Inverness, Inc.  provides shelter for up to 40 dogs and 20 cats at one time..

The Director of the Humane Society of Inverness, Inc. started in rescue in 1998 with only the breed Bouvier des Flandres.  Soon the needs of other breeds could not be denied and were added to the list of pets rescued.  Since 1999, we have found homes for over 3,000 dogs and now have added cats.  We hope to have the cat sanctuary open soon.

Our Purpose

  • TO INSPIRE AWARENESS OF THE PEOPLE OF INVERNESS AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES THAT THERE ARE ANIMALS IN NEED AND WAYS TO CONTROL THE POPULATION OF UNWANTED ANIMALS THROUGH SPAYING OR NEUTERING OF PETS.

  • TO REPORT CASES OF CRUELTY AND NEGLECT TO THE APPROPRIATE AGENCY AND TO HOLD THE PARTIES RESPONSIBLE.

  • WE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO HELP OWNERS FIND LOST PETS AND TO PROVIDE SHELTER FOR HOMELESS PETS UNTIL APPROPRIATE HOMES FOR THEM.

  • TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN THE CARE OF TREATMENT OF ALL ANIMALS.

  • PROVIDE PET THERAPY IN NURSING HOMES AND SIMILAR FACILITIES.

Our Mission

The  Mission Statement of the Humane Society of Inverness, Inc., is to aid in the reduction of the suffering of animals through education and promoting responsible pet ownership.

This mission is accomplished  through volunteers who investigate both prospective foster homes and "forever" homes for the homeless pets in our care.  We also hope to provide avenues for low cost spay/neuter clinics in the area by working with local vets and clinics as well as providing a safe sanctuary for homeless pet that would otherwise face euthansia.
